Walk & Talk to get if off your chest!

I hear it’s a new business trend. Co-Walking or Walking Meetings, it is called. Helping you to be more efficient in your business meetings. Between colleagues, clients or other stakeholders, it’s a catch-up or meeting rather held outside than ..

.. sitting in a formal meeting room. And it’s a simple thought: We are all trying to be efficient, having fun and staying healthy while creating value for our business endeavors. Doesn’t matter what your business is about, if you are self-employed or working for a big corporation.

Good for you! My friend Molly and I are practising this actually for years now. Wanna discuss some stuff, doesn’t matter if personal or business, or just catch up without not remembering anything you said or was recommended to you – as the case in many “oh, let’s catch up over a drink?” situations – well, then just rather meet up and walk & talk about it. And then go for a drink. Or drinks or dinner, or just go home .. in any case you’ll have caught up, had a good productive chat and still be in the know about the details later on.

I am a big fan. Walking will help you to give you time and to formulate your thoughts without the pressure of staring in someone’s eyes on a constant basis as the case when sitting down in a rigid room environment. Interim silence is alright when you walk and you’ll have the confidence of someone walking side-by-side, rather than the hierarchical and traditional lay of the land in the typical office meeting room set-up. It’ll help you to go positively crazy (in my experience) and address what you’re really concerned or worried about.

Word of warning here though: Prepare if you want to do this for strictly business purposes. Only because you might be out of the office, doesn’t mean you don’t need to set the scene and outline the goal of your meeting while you walk & talk. As always if it concerns business, people: Choose whatever helps to make your personality shine and get your point across!
